What it is
E-signature software and API from Syncfusion: send contracts for signing by email, SMS or WhatsApp, with templates, audit trails and a free plan
How it works
Upload a PDF or Word file, let BoldSign detect the fields, add signers and send by email, SMS or WhatsApp. Signers sign on any device without an account, and you get the signed file plus a full audit trail.
Seen on BoldSign’s own product pages, help center and documentation, read November 1, 2026 (listed under Sources). We haven’t used BoldSign ourselves.

What we like
- A real free plan with audit trails, reminders, signer authentication and custom branding.
- Business plan includes unlimited envelopes, with no overage charges.
- Signers never need an account or pay anything.
- Backed by Syncfusion, a software company in business for more than 25 years, with SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA (with a BAA on annual plans).
- Data storage in the US, EU, Canada or Australia.
What to watch out for
- Monthly billing costs much more than yearly (Business is $25 a user monthly versus $15 billed yearly).
- Bulk send, SMS delivery, ID verification and similar extras are charged per use.
- Personal email signups are limited to 5 free envelopes a month until business details are verified.
- The Growth plan caps envelopes at 50 per user a month.
The fine print
- Subscriptions renew automatically; you can cancel from your account.
- Nonprofits get the Growth plan free and 50% off Business and Premium.
- The free API sandbox watermarks test documents and deletes them after 14 days.
- Prices are in USD; taxes and currency conversion can change the final charge.
- Legitimacy signals we found: run by Syncfusion, the software company behind BoldSign; published legal center, security and compliance pages, and customer reviews on G2.
Who it’s best for
Small businesses that want cheap, unlimited e-signatures.
- Small businesses and freelancers who send contracts, NDAs or forms for signature.
- Teams that send a lot of documents and want unlimited envelopes at a flat per-user price.
- Developers who want to embed signing in their own app through an API.
Who should skip it
- Not ideal if you need Zapier on a web-app plan; Zapier and Power Automate are listed only on the Enterprise API plan.
The main alternative
Pick BoldSign if you…
- send many documents and want unlimited envelopes.
- want ID verification, SMS or WhatsApp delivery as options.
- may later embed signing in your own app.
Pick SignWell if you…
- send only a few documents a month.
- want the simplest possible setup.
- prefer a single low flat price without per-use add-ons.
Our take
BoldSign is one of the best-value e-signature tools we have looked at: the free plan is generous, Business gives unlimited envelopes for $15 a user billed yearly, and the company behind it is long-established.
