Keyboards, mice & controllers compared
Mechanical keyboards, gaming mice and controllers from brands we've reviewed, compared on price, style and returns.
This page is for people choosing a keyboard, mouse or game controller, whether for long workdays at a desk or for gaming. It covers big names like Logitech and Razer alongside enthusiast brands that sell mechanical and Hall Effect (magnetic switch) keyboards for much less. If the keyboard that came with your computer feels fine and you don't game, you probably don't need to upgrade.
For typing, look at the layout size (full, 75% or compact), switch feel, whether it's low-profile, and Mac support. For gaming, check mouse weight, polling rate and, on keyboards, rapid-trigger magnetic switches. Wireless options add convenience but cost more. Return windows are short at some enthusiast brands, from 7 to 15 days, and you may pay return shipping, so check before buying.
Prices we saw ran from about $30 for a budget mechanical keyboard to around $300 for premium boards; most good mice cost $45 to $180.
