Mattresses compared

Mattress brands we've reviewed, compared on type, starting price and home trial length, with prices checked October 2026.

This page is for anyone buying a mattress online and trying to make sense of the dozens of brands that ship one in a box. It suits people replacing an old mattress, setting up a guest room or a first apartment, or looking for a specific feel, such as latex, a firm hybrid or soft memory foam. If you'd rather lie on a mattress in a showroom and buy it the same day, a local store may suit you better than any of these sites.

The things that matter most are the type of mattress (all-foam, hybrid with coils, or latex), how firm it is for the way you sleep, the length of the home trial and what a return really costs. Some brands give you a full year and pick the mattress up for free; others charge a return fee or ask you to try an adjustment first. Read the trial rules before you buy, because that is where brands differ most.

Prices we saw ranged from about $120 for a basic foam mattress to more than $3,800 for a premium hybrid, and most brands run sales so often that the list price is rarely what people pay. Our table shows the lowest price we saw on each official site and the date we checked it.

Best for

  • Best for a tight budget: Novilla. Foam mattresses started at $119.99, the lowest price we saw.
  • Best for a long trial: Leesa. A 365-night trial, with prices from $699.
  • Best for latex: Sleep On Latex. Natural latex from $799, with free returns and pickup in the first 100 nights.

Picked from the prices and terms in the table below, checked on the dates shown. Our blue Our Pick label is separate: how we choose.

How we checked

We read each brand's official store and its trial and return terms, and recorded the lowest price shown on the date in the table. We didn't sleep on these mattresses, so we don't rate comfort; we compare what each brand sells, what it costs and how easy it is to send back.
