Wix vs Squarespace

Who should pick which, from each company’s own pricing pages and terms.

We check it out so you don’t have to.

How we researched this page: we read each company’s own pricing pages and terms, independent tests, and customer reviews. We did not use these products ourselves. Prices change often, so each one shows the date we checked it.

Both are design-first website builders that can run a shop. The real differences are in store fees, which plan you need, and how you try them.

Pick Wix if you…

  • want lots of templates and apps, and a shop alongside bookings, services or a blog.
  • want a money-back window after you pay rather than a trial before you pay.

Pick Squarespace if you…

  • care most about a clean, polished look with less fiddling.
  • sell a modest catalog and are happy to start on Core to avoid the 2% store fee.
  • want to try it free for 14 days before paying anything.

Quick verdict

For most small shops, the two are close on price: both have a $29-a-month yearly plan with no store fee. Choose Squarespace if design polish matters most and your catalog is small. Choose Wix if you want more flexibility and features around the shop. If selling is the main point of your site, compare both with Shopify first.
