We researched Amplitude's official pricing, plan terms, product pages, help documentation and Trustpilot profile. We haven't used Amplitude ourselves, so this is a research-based review, not a hands-on test.

Who it’s best for

  • Product teams that want to understand user behavior.
  • Startups that need serious analytics on a free plan.
  • Teams that want session replay and experiments with analytics.

Who should skip it

  • Probably not the best fit if you want simple website traffic stats or client dashboards, where lighter tools suit better.

How it works day to day

This part draws on Amplitude’s own product pages, help center and documentation, read October 29, 2026 (listed under Sources). We haven’t used Amplitude ourselves.

Day to day, you build charts and funnels from tracked events, watch session replays, and share dashboards with the team.

Key features in use

  • Event analytics, funnels and retention.
  • Session replay and heatmaps.
  • Feature experiments.
  • Guides and surveys.

Setup and learning curve

Add Amplitude's SDK or a data connector, then plan which events to track.

Integrations

SDKs for web and mobile, plus connections to warehouses and marketing tools.

Support

Docs, community and academy on all plans; more support on paid plans.

Real-world use cases

  • A SaaS team finds where trial users drop off.
  • An app team tests a new onboarding flow.
  • A store watches replays of failed checkouts.

What it costs

Prices checked October 29, 2026, from Amplitude’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.

  • Free: $0 forever, up to 2 million events a month, 10,000 session replays a month, unlimited seats.
  • Plus: starts at $0 with the first 2 million events a month free, then priced by events, up to 70 million events; 20,000 session replays.
  • Growth and Enterprise: custom, event-based pricing.
  • Startups with under $10 million in funding and fewer than 20 employees can get a free year of Growth.

What we like

  • Generous free plan with unlimited seats.
  • Product analytics, session replay and experiments in one platform.
  • Free year of Growth for eligible startups.
  • AI features built in.

What to watch for

  • Trustpilot showed 1.6 out of 5 from 47 reviews as of October 29, 2026.
  • Event-based pricing can be hard to predict as you grow.
  • Setup needs event tracking planned by a developer.

The fine print

  • Paid plan prices depend on event volume.
  • Data retention differs by plan.
  • Growth and Enterprise prices are not published.

The main alternative: Mixpanel

Mixpanel is the closest rival in product analytics, with a free plan of 1 million events a month and paid Growth usage priced per event above that.

What it costs: Free (1M events/mo); Growth usage-based, checked October 29, 2026

Pick AmplitudeReviewed by Vetteroo if you…

  • build an app or SaaS product.
  • want a big free plan.
  • need session replay with analytics.

Pick Mixpanel if you…

  • want a simpler interface for reports.
  • want clear per-event pricing.

Our take

Amplitude is a powerful product analytics platform with a generous free plan. Pricing is usage-based, setup takes planning, and its outside rating is low. Mixpanel is the main alternative.
