What it costs
Prices checked October 29, 2026, from Fiverr’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.
- No membership fee to buy. Freelancers set their own gig prices.
- Buyers pay a 5.5% service fee on every payment, plus $3.50 on orders under $200 (Fiverr Help Center, checked October 29, 2026). On a $50 order that is $6.25 in fees.
- Extras and tips are separate payments, each with its own fee.
- Fiverr Pro (vetted freelancers and business tools): Pro Essential free; Pro Advanced $129 a month (official Fiverr Pro pages, checked October 29, 2026).
What we like
- Fixed-price packages show the price and delivery time before you pay.
- A very wide range of categories, from design and writing to video and programming.
- No membership fee to buy.
- Fiverr Pro adds vetted freelancers, with a free Pro Essential plan.
What to watch for
- Trustpilot showed 3.4 out of 5 from 16,225 reviews as of October 29, 2026; 35% were 1-star. Complaints mention unhelpful support on account issues and uneven freelancer quality.
- Trustpilot says it has removed fake reviews from Fiverr's profile for breaking its guidelines, and some regional Trustpilot pages showed the rating as unavailable.
- The $3.50 small-order fee makes cheap gigs cost noticeably more (about 23% extra on a $20 order).
- Quality varies a lot from seller to seller.
The fine print
- The service fee is charged on every payment, including extras and tips.
- Cancelled orders go back to your Fiverr Balance first; you must request a refund to your card or PayPal, which usually takes up to 10 business days.
- Read the gig's package details and revision count before ordering.
The main alternative: Upwork
Upwork is built around posting a job and comparing proposals.
What it costs: Free to join; 5% client fee + $0.99-$14.99 per contract, checked October 29, 2026

Pick Upwork if you…

Our take
Fiverr is the easiest way to buy a small, fixed-price job from a freelancer, with a huge range of services. The buyer fee bites on small orders, its Trustpilot score is mixed with a large share of 1-star reviews, and quality depends on the seller. Compare Upwork for bigger or ongoing work.
