Who it’s best for

  • Freelancers and small businesses that mainly need invoices, quotes and online payments.
  • People who want a free plan for a few clients.
  • Technical users who want to host their own open-source copy.

Who should skip it

  • Probably not the best fit if you need full double-entry bookkeeping and payroll.

What it costs

Prices checked October 28, 2026, from Invoice Ninja’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.

  • Free: $0, up to 5 clients with unlimited invoicing.
  • Ninja Pro: $14 a month, or $140 a year (2 months free). Unlimited clients and invoices.
  • Enterprise: from $18 a month, or from $280 a year, priced by the number of account users.
  • You can also run the open-source version on your own server.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.

What we like

  • Free plan for up to 5 clients.
  • Low-cost Pro plan with unlimited clients.
  • Open source since 2014, with a self-hosted option.
  • Many payment gateways, including Stripe, PayPal, Square and GoCardless.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee.

What to watch for

  • Not full accounting software; you may still need a bookkeeping tool.
  • Enterprise is needed for more users.
  • The interface has many settings to learn.

The fine print

  • Trustpilot showed only 6 reviews (2.8 out of 5) as of October 28, 2026, too few to judge either way.
  • Payment gateway fees are separate.
  • Yearly plans are billed as one payment.
