We researched Kit's (formerly ConvertKit) pricing page and help center, plus customer reviews and discussions in email marketing forums. We haven't run a list on it ourselves, so this is research-based.

Who it’s best for

  • Newsletter writers, bloggers, YouTubers, podcasters and course creators.
  • People who want to sell digital products or paid newsletters from the same tool that sends their emails.

Who should skip it

  • Less suited to online shops that want flashy, image-heavy email designs or deep store integrations.

What it costs

Prices checked October 23, 2026, from Kit (formerly ConvertKit)’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.

  • Free plan: $0 for up to 10,000 subscribers, with unlimited broadcasts, forms and landing pages.
  • Creator: $33 a month billed yearly ($390 a year) for 1,000 subscribers. Month to month it's about $39. The price goes up as your list grows.
  • Pro: normally $66 a month billed yearly for 1,000 subscribers. Right now there's a first-year deal of $50 a month ($593 the first year), then it renews at the regular price.
  • 14-day free trial of paid plans, no credit card needed. Free migration from another email tool.

What we like

  • A very generous free plan for a growing newsletter.
  • Customers on Trustpilot (3.9 out of 5, 162 reviews) mostly praise how easy it is to use, its automations and its support.
  • Built-in ways to earn: digital products, paid newsletters and paid recommendations.
  • Paying yearly saves about 17%.

What to watch for

  • Full automations and email sequences need a paid plan.
  • Costs climb with your subscriber count. Independent price trackers put Creator at about $139 a month at 10,000 subscribers ($1,390 a year if you pay yearly).
  • Kit takes 3.5% + 30 cents on each sale of a digital product or paid newsletter, on every plan. That includes card processing.
  • Email designs are simple and text first. Some users want more template options.
  • Trustpilot has only 162 reviews, so that score rests on a small sample.

The fine print

  • The Pro discount is for the first year only. It renews at the standard rate.
  • Your price is set by your subscriber count, so a list that grows fast moves you up a tier.

The main alternative: beehiiv

It's a fast-growing newsletter platform. Its free plan covers up to 2,500 subscribers. It takes 0% of your paid subscription and product sales (card processing fees still apply), and it has its own ad network.

What it costs: $49/mo billed yearly (Lite, $59 monthly); $95 for Pro, checked October 26, 2026

Pick Kit (formerly ConvertKit) if you…

  • want to start free and stay free longer. Kit's free plan goes up to 10,000 subscribers; beehiiv's stops at 2,500.
  • want the lower price on a small list. At 1,000 subscribers, Kit Creator is $33 a month billed yearly; beehiiv's cheapest paid plan is $49.
  • want the platform's branding off your emails without paying for a top plan. Kit's Creator plan removes it; beehiiv needs Pro.
  • sell courses or digital products with automated email sequences.

Pick beehiiv if you…

  • plan to earn mainly from ads in your newsletter and want a built-in ad network.
  • sell a lot of paid subscriptions and want a 0% platform fee. Kit's 3.5% + 30 cents includes card processing, and beehiiv's card processor still charges 2.9% + 30 cents, so the gap is about 0.6% of each sale.

Our take

For a newsletter or creator business, Kit is one of the easiest picks to start with, thanks to a free plan that goes up to 10,000 subscribers. It's cheaper than beehiiv at 1,000 subscribers and about the same price at 10,000. Check what it'll cost at the list size you expect in a year, and remember the Pro deal is first-year only. If ads will be your main income, look at beehiiv.
