We researched Nextiva's official pricing and terms, plus independent reviews and customer feedback. We haven't used Nextiva ourselves, so this is a research-based review, not a hands-on test.

Who it’s best for

  • Small teams that want calls, texts, video and team chat from one vendor.
  • Businesses that want desk phones as well as apps.

Who should skip it

  • Probably not the best fit for a solo owner who just wants a second number.

How it works day to day

This part draws on Nextiva’s own product pages, help center and documentation, read October 26, 2026 (listed under Sources). We haven’t used Nextiva ourselves.

Nextiva is a cloud phone system, so your business number lives in an app rather than on a phone line. Staff make and take calls, send texts and join video meetings from Nextiva's desktop and mobile apps (or a desk phone if you want one). Calls reach the right person through an auto attendant ("press 1 for sales") and routing rules you set, with recording and voicemail available.

Key features in use

  • Auto attendant and call routing so callers reach the right person or team.
  • Call forwarding to cell phones and call recording.
  • Business texting (SMS), video meetings and toll-free numbers in the same system.
  • Desktop and mobile apps, so remote staff can use the business number from anywhere.

Setup and learning curve

Nextiva says guided setup takes minutes and needs no IT team. Moving your existing number is free, but Nextiva notes porting generally takes two to four weeks, so plan the switch ahead of time.

Integrations

Nextiva connects with Salesforce and HubSpot to log calls and show contact details when someone calls. Its Salesforce integration needs Salesforce Professional or higher, and the HubSpot integration needs a HubSpot Professional or Enterprise account, according to Nextiva's integration pages.

Support

Nextiva offers 24/7 support by phone, chat and ticket, and keeps a support library with a full voice feature list.

Real-world use cases

  • A growing office replaces a traditional phone line with an app-based system and an auto attendant.
  • A sales team that lives in HubSpot or Salesforce wants calls logged automatically.
  • A business with remote staff wants everyone answering the main number from their own devices.

What it costs

Prices checked October 25, 2026, from Nextiva’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.

  • Core: $15 per user a month billed yearly, or $23 month to month. 100 texts per user a month.
  • Engage: $25 per user a month billed yearly, or $50 month to month. Adds a toll-free number with 2,000 minutes, live chat and SSO.
  • Scale: $75 per user a month billed yearly; monthly pricing is by quote.
  • AI agent conversations cost $1.50 each.

What we like

  • Trustpilot showed 4.5 out of 5 from about 8,700 reviews as of October 25, 2026, with frequent praise for support during setup.
  • Call quality is the most repeated praise on G2 and Capterra, per an independent summary.
  • Video meetings are on every plan.
  • Strong ratings elsewhere too: G2 showed 4.5 and Capterra 4.6 out of 5 as of October 25, 2026, according to an independent summary.

What to watch for

  • The low prices need a yearly, 12-month term.
  • Recent complaints mention long hold times, number porting problems and cancellation fees.
  • A toll-free number is a paid add-on on Core.
  • Some buyers report the apps signing them out.

The fine print

  • Contracts renew automatically unless you give notice before the term ends (30 days in Nextiva's master terms).
  • Early termination fees can apply. Read the term length and cancellation clause before signing.
  • Scale and contact-center plans are quote-based; get the price in writing.

The main alternative: Quo (formerly OpenPhone)

Quo, formerly OpenPhone, is an app-based phone system for small teams that share numbers and want calls and texts in one place. It has no physical desk phones.

Pick Nextiva if you…

  • want a full phone system with desk phones and strong support during setup.
  • are happy to commit to a yearly term for the lower price.

Pick Quo (formerly OpenPhone) if you…

  • want an app-only system with shared numbers and no long contract.
  • mostly text and call from your phone or laptop.

Our take

Nextiva is a well-reviewed phone system for small teams, especially if you want desk phones and hands-on help. The low price needs a yearly term, and that term renews automatically, so read the notice and termination clauses. App-first teams may prefer Quo.
