We researched Thinkific's official pricing, terms, product pages, help pages and outside reviews. We haven't used Thinkific ourselves, so this is a research-based review, not a hands-on test.

Who it’s best for

• Course creators and coaches selling video courses.
• Businesses training customers or staff.
• Creators who want courses, community and memberships in one place.

Who should skip it

• Probably not the best fit for anyone on a tight budget or who wants a free plan.

How it works day to day

This part draws on Thinkific’s own product pages, help center and documentation, read October 30, 2026 (listed under Sources). We haven’t used Thinkific ourselves.

Build a course from video, quizzes and downloads, set a price and checkout page, then sell it from your Thinkific site and watch payouts and student progress from the dashboard.

• No free plan, but a 30-day free trial. A branded mobile app is an extra $199/month.
• Thinkific Payments charges 2.9% per sale; using Stripe or PayPal directly adds gateway fees.

• Unlimited courses and students on every plan.
• Good course builder with quizzes, certificates and drip content.
• G2 shows 4.5 out of 5; Capterra 4.4 from 208 reviews.

What to watch for

• Trustpilot shows 1.8 from 868 reviews, and most 2026 reviews are 1-star.
• Recent reviews describe charges after a trial or cancellation, withheld payouts and slow support.
• No refunds unless Thinkific made an error or the law requires one.
• Price jumps steeply between plans.

The fine print

• Cancel before the 30-day trial ends if you do not want to pay, and keep the confirmation email.
• Annual plans renew automatically; Thinkific emails a notice 30 to 60 days before, and pro-rata refunds apply only where the law requires them.
• When you cancel, access lasts to the end of the paid period.

The main alternative: Teachable Checked by Vetteroo

Teachable is a close rival course platform with lower entry prices and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Our take

Thinkific has strong course-building tools and good ratings from business software reviewers, but its very poor recent Trustpilot reviews about billing and payouts mean you should use the trial carefully, document every cancellation and keep an eye on payouts.
