We researched Webflow's official pricing, plan terms, product pages and help documentation. We haven't used Webflow ourselves, so this is a research-based review, not a hands-on test.

Who it’s best for

  • Designers and agencies who want pixel-level control and a custom checkout.
  • Brands that care about design and animations.
  • People with a content-heavy site that also sells a few products.

Who should skip it

  • Probably not ideal for big catalogs or beginners who want a simple store.

How it works day to day

This part draws on Webflow’s own product pages, help center and documentation, read October 26, 2026 (listed under Sources). We haven’t used Webflow ourselves.

You design in Webflow's visual Designer, which works like a design tool that writes the code for you. Products get custom fields and variants, and you design the product, cart and checkout pages to match the rest of the site.

Key features in use

  • Custom product fields and variants.
  • Fully designed cart and checkout pages.
  • Branded transactional emails (receipts and order notifications).
  • Interactions and animations.
  • Selling physical goods, digital goods and services.

Setup and learning curve

Webflow has a learning curve. Its free Webflow University courses, including one on building an online store, help a lot. Expect to spend time learning the Designer before launching.

Integrations

Webflow has an apps marketplace and an API, plus paid add-ons from Webflow itself (Analyze, Localize, Optimize).

Support

Webflow University offers free courses and video lessons, and Webflow runs a community for its users. Check the plan table for the support level on each plan.

Real-world use cases

  • A design studio builds a fully custom shop for a client.
  • A print artist sells prints with custom product layouts.
  • A brand adds a small store to a content-rich site.

What it costs

Prices checked October 26, 2026, from Webflow’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.

  • Site plans: Basic $15 a month and CMS-focused Premium $25 a month, billed yearly.
  • Ecommerce plans: Standard $29 a month and Plus $74 a month, billed yearly.
  • Free Starter site to build and test before you pay.
  • Add-ons: Analyze from $9 a month, Localize from $9 a month, Optimize from $299 a month.
  • Enterprise and Team plans by contract.

What we like

  • Full design control over pages, product layouts, cart and checkout without code.
  • Custom interactions and animations.
  • Sell physical goods, digital goods and services.
  • A free Starter site to try it.

What to watch for

  • A steeper learning curve than simpler store builders.
  • Ecommerce plans cost more than basic site plans.
  • Useful extras (analytics, localization, optimization) are paid add-ons.
  • Fewer built-in selling features than a store-first platform like Shopify.

The fine print

  • Prices shown are billed yearly; monthly billing costs more.
  • Check the ecommerce plan table for the limits that apply to your store size.

The main alternative: Shopify

Shopify is built to sell: products, inventory, payments, shipping and in-person sales, with a big app store. It suits stores that plan to grow.

What it costs: $29/mo billed yearly, $39 monthly (Basic), checked October 26, 2026

Pick Webflow if you…

  • are a designer or design-led brand.
  • want full control of your store's look.

Pick Shopify if you…

  • want a store-first platform with lots of selling tools.
  • plan to grow a big catalog or sell in person.

Our take

Webflow gives designers unmatched control over how a store looks and moves, with a free plan to learn on. It takes more learning and has fewer selling tools than Shopify. Pick Webflow for design; pick Shopify if selling at scale is the main goal.
