What to watch for
- Compliance note: in December 2025 Amazon removed X-Sense alarms because they were listed to the older UL 217 6th Edition rather than the 9th; X-Sense says it is a compliance issue, not a recall, and buyers of SC01-W, SC06-WX, SC07, SD2L0AX and XS01-WX from June 30, 2024 to December 31, 2025 can get a free replacement or refund.
- Returns need prior approval and may have deductions.
The fine print
- Check your local code for alarm type.
- Test alarms monthly.
- Return within 30 days.
The main alternative: First Alert
What it costs: SMCO210 10-year smoke/CO alarm $54.95, checked October 29, 2026
