We researched Wix's official pricing, plan terms, product pages and help documentation. We haven't used Wix ourselves, so this is a research-based review, not a hands-on test.

Who it’s best for

  • People who mainly want a good-looking website, blog or booking site, with a shop.
  • Service businesses that want online booking and payments.
  • Beginners who want templates and AI tools to build fast.

Who should skip it

  • Probably not the best fit for large, product-first stores.

How it works day to day

This part draws on Wix’s own product pages, help center and documentation, read October 26, 2026 (listed under Sources). We haven’t used Wix ourselves.

You build in Wix's drag-and-drop editor or start with AI site creation, then add apps for bookings, stores, blogs and more from the Wix App Market. Day to day you manage bookings, orders and payments from the dashboard and mobile app.

Key features in use

  • Drag-and-drop editor with thousands of templates.
  • AI creation tools.
  • Online bookings and scheduling.
  • Payments on Core and up.
  • Wix App Market for extra features.

Setup and learning curve

Pick a template or let AI create a starting site, then edit. Most beginners can publish quickly; setting up payments, bookings and a store takes a little longer. Wix Studio is a separate product for agencies.

Integrations

The Wix App Market adds third-party apps, and Wix supports multiple payment options on paid plans.

Support

Wix lists 24/7 customer care and a help center.

Real-world use cases

  • A yoga teacher takes class bookings and payments.
  • A photographer shows a portfolio and sells prints.
  • A cafe posts its menu and takes pickup orders.

What it costs

Prices checked October 26, 2026, from Wix’s own pricing page unless noted. Prices change often, so check the official page before you buy.

What we like

  • Thousands of templates and a drag-and-drop editor.
  • Free plan to build and test.
  • Bookings, scheduling and payments on Core and up.
  • AI creation tools and 24/7 customer care, according to Wix.
  • 14-day money-back guarantee.

What to watch for

  • You need Core ($29) or higher to accept payments.
  • The free plan shows Wix branding.
  • Selling tools are less deep than store-first platforms.
  • Storage and collaborators are limited on lower plans.

The fine print

  • The free domain is for the first year only.
  • Check the plan comparison for payment and ecommerce features on each plan.

The main alternative: Shopify

Shopify is a store-first platform for products, inventory, payments and shipping, with a big app store. It suits businesses whose site exists to sell.

What it costs: $29/mo billed yearly, $39 monthly (Basic), checked October 26, 2026

Pick Wix if you…

  • want a beautiful site with bookings or a small shop.
  • are a beginner who wants templates and AI help.

Pick Shopify if you…

  • are building a product-first store you plan to grow.
  • sell in person too.

Our take

Wix is an easy way to build a polished site that also books appointments or sells a few products. Selling needs Core or higher. For a store that's all about products, Shopify is the stronger choice.
