AI meeting notes & transcription compared

AI notetakers and transcription tools we've reviewed, compared on free plans, price per user and refunds.

This page is for people who spend their days in video calls and want an accurate record without typing: AI notetakers that join meetings and write summaries, tools that transcribe recordings and interviews, and subtitle and translation services. It suits sales teams, recruiters, consultants, researchers and podcasters. If you have a few calls a week, the notes built into Zoom, Google Meet or Teams may be enough.

Check which meeting apps a tool works with, how many minutes or hours the free plan includes, the languages it supports, and whether it can sync notes to your CRM or docs. Think about privacy too: tell people when a meeting is recorded, and check where recordings are stored. Several tools here give no refunds or lock you into a yearly term, so use the free plan or trial before paying.

Prices we saw ran from free plans and about $8 a user a month to $64 a user a month for specialist recruiting tools, with pay-as-you-go transcription at $10 an hour.

Best for

  • Best free notetaker: Fireflies.ai. A free plan with unlimited transcription, and Pro $10 a seat billed annually.
  • Best for noisy calls: Krisp. Noise cancelling plus notes, from $8 a user a month billed yearly.
  • Best for transcribing recordings: Sonix. Pay as you go at $10 an hour.

Picked from the prices and terms in the table below, checked on the dates shown. Our blue Our Pick label is separate: how we choose.
